One of the treatments for ASD we at Cell-El Ltd look forward to observing and researching is Autologous Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy. MSC treatment involves injection of stem cells taken from the patient’s own bone marrow and injected back into the patient’s central nervous system (via cerebro-spinal fluid).

Previously, we reviewed promising research relating to addressing the underlying immune dysfunction afflicting many children with ASD. Autologous Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy utilizes the child’s own immune modulating stem cells to strengthen the immune system. This experimental treatment is associated with enhanced development in children with ASD. (More details about this can be found on our website Therapy page as well as in our article: Therapeutic properties of mesenchymal stem cells for autism spectrum disorders ).

At Cell-El Ltd we are exploring the positive effect of a protocol for MSC therapy which utilizes cells harvested from the child’s own body that are most likely to be successful, i.e. not rejected by the body. The MSC clinical study protocol focuses on fresh cells (implanted immediately after harvesting) to enhance viability and efficacy. In our study, we are looking both at how Stem Cell therapy may enhance behavioral, social behavior in children with ASD, as well as possible alteration to their immune system, and synergy between the two.

Help Us Help You

Better diagnostics for ASD based on laboratory-measured objective biomarkers can possibly enable researchers and clinicians to provide more precise and personalized treatment. You too can make a difference in the lives of children with ASD and their families by joining the Cell-El study. Cell-El is recruiting for two of our study cohorts. We are recruiting mothers, and their infants aged 10-19 months who have not been diagnosed with ASD but who have a sibling diagnosed with ASD. Cell-El is also recruiting children diagnosed with ASD between the ages of 2-18 years old whose parents are planning to take them privately to a clinic offering Stem Cell treatment for ASD.

Please contact Leah at [email protected] or fill out the form to find out about eligibility to participate in  our diagnostic study and please help spread the word about the Cell-El study. Sharing our study will enable our important biomarker diagnostic tool to be integrated into autism treatment as quickly as possible.
